Choose the correct delivery checklist
Test-centre and online appointments share core ID and security requirements but differ in workspace, equipment and scratch-work tools.
Use the official page for the delivery mode shown in your confirmation rather than combining rules casually.
Confirm appointment details
Check the date, time, time zone for online delivery or physical location for a test centre in the confirmation email and mba.com account.
Resolve any discrepancy before exam day through official support.
Confirm the registration name
Your identification name must match the mba.com profile exactly under current ID rules, including order and placement of names in the Roman alphabet.
Do not assume a familiar shortened name or different order will be accepted.
Check country-specific ID rules
Official acceptable ID varies by location. Use the country selector on the current ID Requirements page.
A passport is always required when testing outside your country of citizenship; expired passports are not acceptable.
Inspect ID validity
Ensure the ID is current, legible and meets the required identity details. Renewal papers do not make an expired passport valid.
Contact official test security in advance when an approved exception may be required.
Plan to be 30 minutes early
Current test-centre and online pages advise arriving or beginning check-in 30 minutes before the scheduled appointment.
Use that time for identity and security procedures, not last-minute study.
Prepare the test-centre route
Confirm travel time, entrance, parking or public transport and an additional delay buffer. Visit the area beforehand when practical.
Do not rely on a route estimate made under ideal traffic conditions.
Prepare online hardware early
Use the computer intended for the exam to install the secure browser and run the official system check before test day.
A school or work computer can contain security restrictions that block delivery; the official page recommends a personal computer.
Check the online operating system
Compare the exact device, operating system, browser, webcam, microphone, speakers, processor, memory and free-space requirements with the live page.
Specifications can change, so do not rely on an old screenshot or checklist.
Check internet stability
Current online guidance requires a reliable connection and recommends wired internet where possible. Mobile-hotspot tethering is prohibited.
Ask others in the household to reduce network use during the appointment.
Connect to power
Plug the computer into a power source before online check-in. The workstation should remain powered without needing movement mid-exam.
Place approved cables so the room scan and testing space remain clear.
Use one permitted display
Online testing prohibits additional connected devices and ultrawide displays at or above the stated 21:9 threshold. Touchscreen use is also prohibited.
Unplug and turn off extra monitors and computers before the room scan.
Prepare webcam and audio
Confirm the webcam, microphone and speakers function and have required permissions. Bluetooth audio equipment is prohibited under current requirements.
Test the actual room lighting and camera angle before appointment day.
Remove VPN and firewall obstacles
The online secure browser cannot run through a corporate firewall or VPN under current guidance. Disable prohibited network layers and retest.
Do not wait until check-in to discover a managed-device restriction.
Prepare the online room
Clear the desk and all areas within arm’s reach. Cover glass walls, glass doors and windows as required.
Remove writing, unauthorised electronics and personal items from view and reach before the room scan.
Protect the testing area
No other person may enter or pass through the online testing area while the exam is in progress. Plan household access in advance.
Your testing area can be inspected throughout the session.
Know permitted online items
Current policies list ID, approved eyeglasses, an approved whiteboard setup, clear unlabelled water container and inspected comfort items among permitted items.
Use the live official list; items not listed should be removed unless pre-authorised.
Know prohibited items
Phones, watches, notes, ordinary paper, personal calculators, study materials and most electronics cannot be accessed during the session or break.
The proctor may direct limited phone access for administration; otherwise keep it out of reach and sight.
Prepare scratch-work tools
At a test centre, the administrator provides erasable noteboards and a noteboard pen. Online candidates use the provided digital whiteboard, an approved physical whiteboard or both.
Do not bring ordinary paper or writing tools into the testing area.
Know when writing may begin
At a test centre, official policies say you may begin writing on the provided noteboard only when the timed portion begins.
Follow all on-screen and administrator instructions rather than pre-writing a template.
Raise problems immediately
At a test centre, raise your hand for computer issues, replacement noteboards or a pen problem. Online, communicate through the authorised proctor process.
Do not troubleshoot by accessing unauthorised devices or leaving the workstation without direction.
Follow spoken-content rules
Official policies prohibit reading questions aloud, mumbling or speaking except when communicating appropriately with the administrator or proctor.
Practise silent reading and calculation before test day.
Use the on-screen timer
Official exam-day guidance recommends consulting the timer periodically. Follow rehearsed section checkpoints.
Do not use a personal watch, phone or stopwatch.
Handle the optional break
The current exam includes one optional 10-minute break. Follow the delivery-mode instructions and return on time.
Online policies warn that late return can reduce the next section’s time or lead to abandonment and score cancellation.
Do not access study materials on break
Notes, phones, books, watches and study guides remain prohibited during the break. Use only permitted actions and items.
Check break time through the authorised screen rather than a personal device.
Follow whiteboard demonstrations
Online candidates using a physical whiteboard must erase and show both sides when prompted before the exam, before an optional break and before the exam ends.
Failure to demonstrate a blank board can be treated as a serious policy issue.
Protect exam content
Do not record, copy, remove or disclose exam questions or answers before, during or after administration.
This includes verbal, written and electronic disclosure.
Prepare the previous evening
Reconfirm the appointment and ID, set out only permitted items, test the route or computer and protect sleep.
Avoid adding untested hardware, software or study methods at the last minute.
Use a short morning check
Verify ID, appointment, power, route or internet and approved scratch-work setup. Eat and hydrate according to a rehearsed routine.
Do not use the final hour for an exhausting full practice set.
Recognise common test-day mistakes
Common failures include name mismatch, expired ID, late arrival, untested secure browser, extra monitor, prohibited paper and an uncleared online room.
Another is treating break rules as informal.
Use current official sources
Read the official Test Center, Online Experience, ID Requirements and Exam Policies pages.
Check them again shortly before the appointment because requirements are updated.
Follow a seven-step checklist
Confirm appointment; verify ID and name; prepare route or system; clear prohibited items; rehearse scratch-work and break rules; arrive early; then follow authorised instructions.
Keep the final checklist short and based on the current delivery mode.
