Wait for the official notification
Pearson emails when the result is ready. Results are typically available within two days, although the Help Center asks candidates to allow up to five working days.
Do not treat a friend’s turnaround time as a guarantee. Additional quality or security review can make an individual result take longer.
Open the result in myPTE
Sign in to the account used for booking and select View Score on the homepage. If it is not visible there, check My Activity beside the relevant test.
Download the PDF for personal records if needed, but remember that institutions verify scores through secure digital methods.
Read the overall score correctly
The overall score ranges from 10 to 90 and reflects performance across the complete test. It is not calculated as a simple average of the four displayed communicative skill scores.
Compare it with the exact overall threshold published by the receiving organisation.
Check every communicative skill
Speaking, writing, reading and listening each receive a 10–90 score based on items assessing that skill alone or together with another skill.
A course may require minimum scores in every skill. Passing the overall threshold does not automatically satisfy those separate conditions.
Use the Skills Profile
The Score Report includes a Skills Profile with performance areas and personalised recommendations. It can identify patterns beyond the four headline skill numbers.
Translate each weak area into a practice action, such as clearer open responses, better reproduction, stronger extended writing or more controlled short speaking.
Understand automated scoring
Pearson states that PTE Academic responses are machine scored, with some aspects also checked by a human expert. Question types use correctness, partial credit, formal aspects or response quality as applicable.
Use official scoring explanations for preparation. Avoid unofficial score calculators that promise an exact result from a small practice sample.
Compare with the real requirement
Governments and institutions decide which tests they accept and what scores they require. Pearson’s score page does not replace a course or visa requirement page.
Check test product, overall score, skill minima, result age and any deadline on the receiving organisation’s current site.
Know the two-year availability
Pearson states that the Score Report remains available for two years from the test date. After that, the result cannot be accessed or assigned through the normal process.
Plan applications and score sharing before the two-year point. A receiving authority may also apply its own recency rule.
Share through myPTE
For PTE Academic, go to My Activity, choose Send Scores, search for the institution and confirm the selection. Pearson allows secure sharing to unlimited institutions without a fee.
The interface can process up to seven institutions in one selection. Repeat the process when more recipients are required.
Use the Score Report Code
An institution can also verify a result using the 10-character Score Report Code or Registration ID on Pearson’s secure score review system.
Provide the exact code through the institution’s instructed channel. Do not assume that emailing a PDF completes verification.
Allow time for delivery
Pearson says an institution may take around 48 hours to see a score after it is sent through myPTE. Build this into application deadlines.
Save the confirmation email and check the application portal if the institution requests proof that sharing was initiated.
Do not rely on paper copies
Pearson tells institutions not to accept paper or PDF copies as secure verification. The digital portal and report code protect authenticity.
A downloaded PDF is useful for your records and planning, but follow the recipient’s secure submission instructions.
Handle a delayed result
If five working days or fewer have passed, Pearson advises waiting for notification. Also check spam and the myPTE account.
After more than five working days, use the current Help Center guidance and support form. Additional certainty or security checks can extend processing.
Handle a display problem
If Pearson says the score is ready but the report cannot be displayed, try again later. The Help Center advises allowing up to 24 hours for certain technical display issues.
If the issue continues beyond that period, submit the designated Customer Support form rather than creating duplicate accounts.
Decide whether to retake
Compare every required threshold with the verified result and the application timeline. Diagnose the largest gap through the Skills Profile before booking again.
Use a new official scored practice version or unseen material to test improvement. Repeating familiar questions can exaggerate readiness.
Keep a result record
Store the test date, product, overall score, four skill scores, Score Report Code, sharing confirmations and the recipient requirement checked.
This record reduces confusion when several institutions or test attempts are involved and helps select the correct result for each application.
Use official guidance and the internal cluster
Recheck Pearson’s official PTE scoring Help Center, current handbook page and official PTE Help Center because operational policies can change.
Continue with the internal PTE Academic preparation guide and compare every action with the exact requirements of the receiving organisation.
