Verify the programme before registration

Confirm that every serious target accepts the current GMAT for the intended degree and intake. Check whether test-center, online or both delivery routes are accepted.

GMAC states that applicants are responsible for programme eligibility. Booking the wrong test or route does not create an automatic refund.

Build a registration worksheet

Record programme, intake, GMAT policy, route acceptance, deadline, target score evidence, reporting method, source URL and access date.

Add the latest useful test date and retake date. Registration should follow the application plan, not precede it.

Choose the test date from deadlines

Work backward from the earliest application or funding deadline. Include preparation, appointment availability, official-score time and programme processing.

GMAT reports are typically available in 3-5 days but may take up to 20 days, so use a real buffer.

Create one mba.com account

Use one account with accurate personal information. Do not create another email identity to bypass account, retake or policy restrictions.

Store the login securely and keep access to the registered email for confirmation and score notices.

Enter the legal name carefully

The Roman-alphabet name on the ID must match the mba.com profile exactly, including order and placement under current GMAT rules.

Enter complete names from the intended test-day ID. Do not use a nickname or convenient rearrangement.

Match the date of birth

The date of birth on the ID must exactly match the account information. Check day, month and year before scheduling.

Resolve an error through GMAC Customer Care rather than creating another account.

Match citizenship information

Current policy requires identity information, including country of citizenship, to match registration records as applicable.

Use official documents and contact support when an unusual status or document creates uncertainty.

Check location-specific ID rules

GMAT ID requirements vary by testing location. Select the country on the official ID page and read the applicable list.

Do not assume a document accepted in Nepal will be accepted when testing in another country.

Know when a passport is required

GMAC states that an international travel passport is always required when testing outside the country of citizenship. Expired passports are not accepted.

Check whether additional forms are accepted for the selected location when testing in the country of citizenship.

Inspect the ID features

The original ID must be current, legible and contain the matching name, date of birth, recognisable photograph and signature.

At a test center, a second acceptable ID may be needed when one document does not contain all required elements.

Know unacceptable identification

GMAC lists expired IDs, passport cards, student or employee IDs, credit cards, university letters, photocopies and profile photos among unacceptable forms.

A familiar card is not valid merely because it contains a name or photograph.

Request an ID exception early

If you cannot meet the location’s ID requirement because of refugee, asylum or another exceptional circumstance, contact GMAT test security.

Current guidance says approval must be received before scheduling and advises contact at least 10 business days before the planned booking.

Understand age eligibility

Candidates aged 18 or older can schedule under standard eligibility rules. Those aged 13-17 may test at a center with required written parent or guardian consent.

Review the current process before account and appointment actions for a minor.

Apply for accommodations first

If you need disability-related accommodations, apply and receive approval before scheduling. Approved accommodations cannot simply be added to an existing appointment.

Follow the special registration instructions provided with the approval.

Compare test-center and online delivery

Assess programme acceptance, location, travel, equipment, room privacy, internet stability and personal testing preference.

The exam content and score scale are current GMAT, but administration and security procedures differ by route.

Check test-center availability

Search the live booking calendar for the selected region and date range. Availability can change as candidates book or cancel.

Confirm the full address, local appointment time and travel feasibility before payment.

Check online eligibility and location

Review whether online delivery is available in the physical country where you will test and whether target programmes accept that route.

You must state the actual city and country during online administration and follow location-specific ID rules.

Run the online system check

Use the current secure-browser and system requirements on the actual computer and network. VPNs, remote desktop applications and virtual machines are prohibited.

Resolve operating-system, webcam, microphone, bandwidth and security-software conflicts before paying for a time-sensitive appointment.

Check the online room

The online route requires a private workspace, valid original ID, permitted whiteboard setup and compliance with camera and proctor instructions.

Nobody else may enter the testing area during the administration. Review windows, doors, extra screens and prohibited items.

Choose an appointment with a buffer

Select a date after stable official-practice performance but before the latest useful reporting date. Leave room for an eligible retake.

Do not book solely because one slot appears inexpensive or convenient.

Review current exam payment

Use the official payment page and account checkout for location-specific test-center or online fees, taxes and currency.

Prices can change. Record the final amount and refund or change terms displayed before authorising payment.

Use an authorised payment method

Enter billing information accurately and ensure the payment method can complete international or online transactions as needed.

Do not use a fraudulent method or reverse a valid charge for a service already received; current policies prohibit this.

Review rescheduling terms

Check the current fee and deadline for changing the appointment. Costs can vary with timing and location.

Do not rely on an old fee table. Review the exact account confirmation before submitting the change.

Review cancellation terms

Check the live cancellation deadline, refund amount and route-specific procedure. A missed appointment can forfeit the fee.

Keep the confirmation when a cancellation succeeds. Do not assume closing the browser cancels a booking.

Correct account information early

Current policy says personal account changes must be completed at least 72 hours before the exam, and demographic changes may require more processing.

Start corrections well before that limit. An unresolved identity mismatch can prevent testing.

Read the complete policies

Registration creates a legally binding agreement with GMAC policies, referenced rules and privacy terms.

Read current eligibility, ID, administration, security, score and violation sections before accepting.

Understand the retake wait

You must wait at least 16 days after an online or test-center attempt before taking the GMAT again.

Set the earliest legal retake and the latest useful application retake in the worksheet. They are not always the same date.

Understand the rolling annual limit

Current policy permits up to five online and test-center attempts combined within a rolling 12-month period.

A canceled session can still count in specified circumstances. Do not schedule casual attempts without a preparation purpose.

Know the perfect-score rule

Current policy requires a five-year wait before retesting after a perfect 805 Total Score.

This rare rule is another reason to use the current policy rather than retired-edition advice.

Save the appointment confirmation

Verify name, date, local time, delivery route, location and appointment details immediately after booking.

Keep the confirmation accessible outside the secure testing screen and add the date to the application calendar.

Schedule preparation milestones

Place official practice tests, review days, section targets and administrative checks on the calendar before the appointment.

Do not let registration create a countdown with no study plan.

Prepare test-center logistics

Check travel route, building access, arrival guidance, valid ID and storage rules. Bring only permitted items.

Follow photo, palm-vein and other security procedures where applicable.

Prepare online logistics

Update the secure browser, run the system test, clear the room and prepare the permitted whiteboard, markers, eraser, clear water and ID.

Keep the phone outside arm’s reach after using it for required room views, as instructed by the proctor.

Verify the score-reporting plan

The current GMAT lets you view your score before choosing programmes to receive it. Map school names and programmes in advance.

Once you send a score, GMAC cannot undo the action. Confirm the recipient and intake.

Protect account security

Use a unique password, secure email and private device where possible. Do not share credentials with a tutor or registration agent.

Review account activity and contact official support if a booking or profile change is unfamiliar.

Avoid common registration mistakes

Do not book before checking programme acceptance, rearrange the legal name, rely on an expired passport, request accommodations after scheduling or ignore online system rules.

Also avoid purchasing a date too close to the deadline for official-score or retake flexibility.
