Wait for the Official Score Report
The immediate test-day result is unofficial. GMAC typically makes the Official Score Report available in the mba.com account within 3-5 days and notes that it can occasionally take up to 20 days.
The 48-hour free-sending window starts when the Official Score becomes available, not when the exam appointment ends.
Monitor the account and email
GMAC sends an email notification when the Official Score Report is ready. Check the mba.com dashboard as well as junk or spam folders.
Do not wait for a university reminder. Record the availability timestamp and a deadline 48 hours later.
Use the five free reports
GMAT registration includes the option to send an Official Score Report to up to five programmes for free within the 48-hour period.
The benefit applies to test-center and online candidates. You can review the Official Score before selecting recipients.
Understand what counts as a programme
Select the exact school, programme, campus and degree shown in the mba.com search. Different programmes at one institution can require separate recipient selections.
Do not assume that sending to a university brand automatically reaches every MBA or business master’s course.
Build the recipient list before test day
Create a worksheet with official institution name, programme, campus, intake, deadline, reporting instruction and source URL. Add an alternate programme only after independent verification.
Preparation reduces mistakes during the short free window without forcing you to commit before seeing the score.
Verify the programme accepts the current GMAT
Check the exact admissions page for the current edition, intended intake and delivery route. A score can be valid at GMAC while not meeting a programme’s policy.
Record whether the test is required, optional, accepted as one option or not accepted.
Check the application deadline
A score send and an application submission are separate events. Confirm the score deadline, not only the general application deadline.
GMAC says a submitted report is sent to the selected programme within eight hours, but the institution may need additional time to match it to an application.
Confirm names and identifiers
Use the exact legal identity in the mba.com account and the same identity used in the application where possible. Keep applicant or programme identifiers ready when the school provides them.
If the school cannot match a delivered result, contact its admissions office with the appropriate confirmation rather than ordering duplicate reports immediately.
Choose the single attempt carefully
The current ordinary sending page states that each Official Score Report sent to a programme contains the Total and section scores from one selected exam attempt. Previous attempts are not automatically included under that ordinary rule.
Compare Total Score, section scores, percentiles and programme expectations before selecting the attempt.
Know what schools receive
A school report includes candidate details, the selected score information, exam date and delivery method under current guidance. Optional self-reported profile information can also be included when provided.
Schools do not receive the candidate-only detailed dashboard of content, question type, timing and Review & Edit behaviour.
Understand score privacy
Only programmes you select can access the Official Score Report, except for disclosures allowed by policy, law, security or government process.
If you do not send a score, a programme does not see it merely because you took the exam.
There is no need to cancel an unsent score
The current process lets candidates view the Official Score before deciding whether to send it. GMAC therefore says there is no need to cancel a score simply to hide it.
Not sending a result is different from a score cancelled by GMAC for a testing issue or policy violation.
Treat the send as irreversible
Once an Official Score Report is sent to a programme, GMAC cannot cancel, undo or disable the programme’s access.
Use a final two-person or two-pass check of school, programme, campus, intake and chosen attempt before submission.
Do not confuse self-reporting and official delivery
Some applications ask candidates to enter a score or upload an account view for initial review. That does not automatically replace official delivery when the programme later requires it.
Follow the programme’s exact instruction and use mba.com for an official report.
Do not send a printed account page as official
Printing an mba.com browser page does not create an Official Score Report. The test-taker report is not a downloadable official PDF.
A school that requests an applicant upload can explain what temporary evidence it accepts, but formal reporting still follows its policy.
Use paid additional reports
After the free window or beyond five programmes, additional reports can be purchased through the mba.com account. The Nepal pricing table reviewed on 25 July 2026 showed US$35 each.
Select Nepal and confirm the live amount before payment because fees can change.
Know that reporting fees are non-refundable
GMAC states that additional score-report fees are non-refundable. An incorrect recipient can therefore cost money and cannot be reversed.
Save the order confirmation and recipient history after purchase.
Send a new attempt again
If a programme already received one attempt and you later want it to receive a new result, you must send the new Official Score Report.
Do not assume the school automatically monitors later exams in your account.
Understand five-year score sending
Additional reports can normally be sent while the score is no more than five years old. A programme may impose a stricter recency requirement.
Verify the intended intake and institutional rule even when the score remains technically valid.
Understand older score requests
The official sending page says a score older than five but less than ten years may be requested for sending when the candidate has not taken a GMAT exam in the past five years.
Older reporting is not the same as a currently valid score. Confirm whether the programme will accept it before ordering.
Handle a missing programme
Search alternative official names, school divisions and programme titles in mba.com. Compare the result with the institution’s reporting instruction.
If the correct programme is absent, contact GMAC Customer Care and the programme rather than sending to a similar but unverified recipient.
Handle a delayed official score
If the report is not available after the expected period, use GMAC Customer Care. Keep the appointment details and deadline evidence.
Notify the programme only with accurate information and ask about its late-score process; GMAC cannot discuss testing events with a school unless the score has been officially sent.
Know the Superscore launch status
As of 25 July 2026, GMAC targeted early-to-mid August for GMAT Superscore. It was an announced future feature, not yet confirmed as launched on the review date.
Superscore is designed as an additional 205-805 data point based on highest eligible section scores across valid latest-edition attempts.
Understand future Superscore reporting
GMAC says that after launch, an available Superscore will automatically accompany a single-attempt report and candidates cannot opt out of sending it. The report will identify the contributing section scores, dates and delivery methods.
The Superscore does not replace original attempts and has no associated percentile ranking under announced guidance.
Know when an updated Superscore needs a resend
Announced guidance says that when a later attempt increases an already-sent Superscore, the candidate must send a single-attempt score again for the updated Superscore to reach the programme.
Recheck the live process after launch and confirm how the target school uses this additional data point.
Understand retroactive launch vouchers
GMAC says candidates who tested before launch and receive a Superscore retroactively will receive five complimentary score-sending vouchers by email, with limited validity and specific terms.
This launch benefit is not a permanent substitute for the ordinary 48-hour free-report rule.
Review the sending receipt
After submission, confirm recipient, selected attempt, date, status and any payment. Store a screenshot or confirmation for personal records without presenting it as the Official Score Report itself.
Update the application worksheet and follow the programme’s portal for result matching.
Avoid common sending mistakes
Do not count 48 hours from test day, select only a university name, send an unverified attempt, miss the free window, confuse a browser printout with an official report or assume a later score updates automatically.
Also avoid treating announced Superscore guidance as already live before the confirmed launch.
