Choose the right SAT attempt
Begin with the admission deadlines and testing policies of your intended universities. Work backwards to allow preparation, score release, possible retesting and score reporting. Taking the earliest available date is not automatically best if it leaves too little time to prepare, but waiting for the final possible date can remove your recovery options.
Use a diagnostic test in Bluebook before registration if you are unsure of readiness. Compare the result with your target institutions, then choose a date that supports a realistic improvement plan.
Review the published 2026–27 dates
College Board currently lists SAT Weekend dates on 22 August, 12 September, 3 October, 7 November and 5 December 2026, followed by 6 March, 1 May and 5 June 2027. These dates apply to U.S. and international students, but a particular centre may not offer every administration.
For the August 2026 test, the published regular registration deadline is 7 August and the late registration deadline is 11 August. The later 2026 regular deadlines are 28 August for September, 18 September for October, 23 October for November and 20 November for December. All deadlines expire at 11:59 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time.

Always use the current SAT dates and deadlines page before starting. Late registration is currently available worldwide with an extra fee, but waiting can reduce centre choice and increase cost.
If you need a College Board loaned device, the ordinary registration deadline is not your real deadline. College Board says the device request must be submitted at least 30 days before test day, after registration.
Search for available test centres
Use the official test-centre search and then confirm availability inside registration. A centre appearing in search does not guarantee an open seat for every date. Consider more than one acceptable location before beginning payment.
Check travel time, reporting time and practical transport. Centre availability can change, so rely on the location shown in your completed registration and later admission ticket rather than an old social post or screenshot.
Create one accurate College Board account
Sign in to an existing College Board account or create a free student account. Register for yourself; College Board says a parent or counsellor cannot register on the student’s behalf. Avoid creating duplicate accounts because records and scores can become harder to manage.
Enter your full legal name and birth details carefully. For Nepal, the name should match the valid passport you will carry. A nickname, shortened surname or different spelling can cause identity problems at check-in.
Prepare before starting registration
Have your legal identity details, school information, preferred dates, alternative centres, a compliant photo and an accepted payment method ready. College Board estimates that online registration takes about 30 minutes, and the application can be saved and resumed.
Use an email address and telephone number that you monitor. Registration notices, centre changes and test-day updates are time-sensitive.
Upload a compliant registration photo
The photo must make you easy to recognise, show only you, face the camera directly and display your head and shoulders clearly. Your full face and eyes should be visible, the image should be in focus and lighting should not create dark areas or shadows.
College Board currently accepts JPG, GIF or PNG uploads and allows cropping after upload. A successful file upload confirms type and size, not that the image satisfies identity rules. Filters, altered appearance, sunglasses, another person or an obscured face can prevent admission.
Select the date and centre carefully
During registration, select the intended administration and an available centre. Read the final summary before checkout. Check the date, centre, legal name, date of birth, contact details and photo instead of assuming the browser preserved every choice.
Seat availability is dynamic. Complete payment only when the registration summary is correct, and retain the confirmation in your College Board account.
Understand current international fees
As checked on 25 July 2026, College Board lists a US$68 SAT registration fee plus a US$43 international fee for testing outside the United States. This makes the base international charge US$111 before optional or additional services.
College Board currently lists extra charges including US$38 for late registration, US$34 to change the test centre, US$34 for regular cancellation and US$44 for late cancellation. Some selected centres may charge a separate test-centre fee. Recheck the live fee page at payment because prices can change.
Use the official international fee page
Review the current international SAT fees and the charge shown at checkout. Currency conversion, card charges or bank rules can change the Nepal-rupee amount, so do not treat an old local conversion as the amount your card will be charged.
Fee-waiver eligibility is governed by College Board rules and should not be assumed for a Nepali student merely because testing is international. Check eligibility directly before planning around a waiver.
Pay and verify confirmation
Use a supported payment method and complete the checkout flow. Do not close the page at the payment step without confirming whether the transaction succeeded. After payment, open My SAT and verify that the registration card shows the correct date and centre.
Keep your receipt and note any bank authorisation. If a page times out, check the account and payment record before starting again so you do not create confusion or duplicate charges.
Know how changes and cancellation work
College Board currently requires students who want a different test date to cancel and register for a new administration. A centre change can be made through the College Board account, subject to deadline, availability and the current fee.
Photo changes are currently accepted through the account up to five days before the test. Name, date-of-birth or gender corrections require SAT support and have an earlier operational deadline. Act as soon as you notice an error.
Meet Nepal-specific ID requirements
College Board’s current country-specific rule says students testing in Nepal must bring a valid passport containing their name, photograph and signature, or a U.S. Department of Defense Common Access Card. A Nepali citizenship card, school ID, birth certificate, photocopy or digital ID should not be assumed acceptable.
The physical passport must be unexpired, in good condition and match the legal name on the admission ticket. If the passport will expire or contains a different name, resolve the issue well before the test instead of relying on an explanation at the centre.
Download Bluebook on an approved device
After registration, prepare the device used for testing. Bluebook currently supports compliant Windows laptops or tablets, Mac laptops, iPads and school-managed Chromebooks. Personal Chromebooks and mobile phones are not approved testing devices.
Download Bluebook early and check current system requirements. Practise on the intended device, ensure you can sign in with the same College Board account and keep the operating system within the supported range.
Request a device early if needed
If you cannot use or borrow an approved device, College Board may provide a loaned device. Register for a date at least 30 days away, select the relevant device-access response and submit the separate request from My SAT at least 30 days before test day.
The request requires verification by an adult who is not a family member and approval is not guaranteed. An approved student arrives 30 minutes earlier than the standard check-in time to receive the device and complete setup.
Complete Bluebook exam setup
Open Bluebook 1–5 days before the test, sign in and complete exam setup. This downloads the assessment and generates the admission ticket. College Board prefers that students print the ticket, and it can also be emailed for access.
Check the ticket for the centre address and reporting time. On test morning, reopen Bluebook to see any last-minute messages or centre updates and charge the device fully.
Prepare the test-day bag
Bring the approved fully charged device, installed Bluebook with setup completed, current admission ticket, valid physical passport, pens or pencils, and your College Board username and password. Bring a power cable or portable charger because an outlet is not guaranteed.
Bluebook contains an embedded calculator for Math. You may also bring a calculator that meets the current policy. Snacks and water can be useful for the break, but prohibited electronics must remain stored as directed by test staff.
Monitor centre updates
Check My SAT, Bluebook, email and the official centre-closings information in the days before testing. The centre or reporting instructions can change. The admission ticket is the better source for arrival time than a generic schedule.
Arrive early. College Board’s standard Saturday schedule commonly shows check-in around 7:45 a.m. and doors closing at 8 a.m., but the ticket controls. Late students cannot be admitted after testing starts.
Avoid registration mistakes
Common preventable errors include using a nickname, uploading a filtered photo, choosing a centre without checking travel, waiting until the last deadline, overlooking the international fee, failing to request a device in time and forgetting exam setup.
Use a simple verification list after checkout: account identity, test date, centre, payment, passport validity, device, Bluebook login, exam setup and admission ticket.
